Arunditi + Jannik
When a family invites you back to capture another milestone, it’s the greatest honour and that was exactly the case with Arun and Jannik’s unforgettable destination wedding in Penang, Malaysia. I first met Arun years ago when I photographed her brother’s wedding, and it was her dad, Sanjay, who reached out again. Little did I know then that Sanjay would become one of the most legendary dad-wedding-planners I’ve ever met! Being welcomed back into their lives felt incredibly meaningful this wasn’t just about photographing a wedding, it was about reconnecting with a family that made me feel like one of their own. From day one, they embraced me with warmth and kindness, and by the time the celebrations wrapped, I genuinely felt like part of the family. Held at the beautiful Shangri-La Golden Sands, the celebrations were as heartfelt as they were grand. We kicked things off with a casual couple shoot exploring Penang’s iconic street art, iced Milo in hand before launching into an epic sangeet, complete with bands and DJs flown in from all over the world. A beachfront mehndi and Greece-themed haldi brought even more vibrance to the festivities. On the wedding day, Jannik and Arun honoured both cultures – first with a stunning Catholic ceremony under one of the most incredible floral setups I’ve seen, then with a Hindu celebration full of dancing, colour, fireworks, joy and Arun looking stunning her Sabyasachi lengha. Not even the rain could slow this crew down. The night ended with one final dance in the ballroom, closing out a celebration I’ll never forget not just for the beauty of it all, but for the genuine connections and memories made along the way.
